About the project

Project description

The project “Improving Access to Justice for Living in Dignity” was implemented by UNDP Moldova with the financial support of Germany, aiming to strengthen access to justice for vulnerable groups, including refugees and displaced persons from Ukraine.

Within this project, the Center for Lawyers (CDA) awarded grants to civil society organizations to implement activities at the local level. AO “Pas cu Pas regiunea Sud” was one of the grant beneficiaries, responsible for implementing project activities in the southern region of the Republic of Moldova.

Between July 2023 and April 2024, AO “Pas cu Pas regiunea Sud” carried out activities focused on providing legal consultations, identifying barriers to the implementation of the temporary protection regime, training community leaders from among refugees, organizing information sessions on human rights and access to justice, as well as conducting thematic “Law Weekend for Mothers with Young Children” events.

Through these interventions, the project contributed to improving legal awareness, addressing the concrete legal needs of beneficiaries, and strengthening local support mechanisms for vulnerable groups.

5 case studies documented on the implementation of the temporary protection regime

15 community leaders from the Ukrainian community trained to support their fellow nationals

7 "Law Weekend for Mothers with Young Children" events organized, with the participation of 140 women

More than 80% of participants reported an increased level of knowledge about their rights and the legal mechanisms for accessing justice

Impact

Approximately 15 people successfully obtained legal employment
16 families resolved their housing situation by signing formal rental agreements
8 refugee mothers with newborns accessed childbirth and child-rearing benefits
Several individual cases were successfully resolved through the intervention of legal experts, helping to prevent violations of beneficiaries' rights
