About the project

Project description

The “Inclusion and Solidarity” project is implemented in the municipality of Cahul and aims to strengthen the integration of refugees and migrants by increasing their participation in local decision-making processes and ensuring coordinated access to social, medical, educational, legal, and employment services.

The initiative addresses challenges related to the low participation of refugees and migrants in public decision-making and the fragmentation of information about available services. The project proposes an integrated model based on civic participation and advocacy, the development of a service map, the implementation of case management for people with complex needs, and strengthened cooperation between local public authorities and service providers.

The project duration is 12 months, and the implementation area is the municipality of Cahul, Southern Region of the Republic of Moldova.

Goal and objectives

The main goal is to address the low participation of refugees and migrants in local decision-making processes and improve coordinated access to services, so that community-validated priorities are reflected in local public authorities’ decisions and beneficiaries are quickly referred to appropriate services.

What we aim for

Results

At least 350 refugees and migrants involved in consultations and surveys to validate priorities.

Organization of 4 workshops on civic participation and participatory budgeting.

Development and publication of a service map (in 3 languages – RO/RU/UA) including at least 20 service providers.

Implementation of case management for at least 150 people with complex needs.

Distribution of support vouchers for acute cases.

Conducting an advocacy campaign and facilitating the adoption of a local action plan on migration and asylum.

At least 350 refugees and migrants from the municipality of Cahul.
At least 150 people benefiting from case management (psychological and social support).
Members of the local community.
Local public authorities (Cahul City Hall and Municipal Council).

The project “Inclusion and Solidarity: Support for the Integration of Migrants and Refugees into Local Communities” is implemented by the Public Association “Pas cu Pas Regiunea Sud” in partnership with the Cahul Municipality City Hall based on a grant obtained under the project “Cities and Regions for All (CR4A): Full Integration of Refugees and Migrants in Urban and Rural Areas of Moldova”, co-financed by the European Union and the Prague 5 Municipality, and implemented by People in Need in partnership with the Prague 5 Municipality through ICMPD – International Centre for Migration Policy Development, within the Migration Partnership Facility (MPF).
