Study visit to Estonia within the LEAD to HIV Care project

We are grateful for the opportunity to participate in the study visit organized in Estonia within the project Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion to HIV Care for People Who Use Drugs (LEAD to HIV Care).

We thank the organizers, Eurasian Harm Reduction Association - EHRA, and all the partners involved for the valuable exchange of experience, openness to dialogue and practical examples presented during these days.

Participation in this program provided an important perspective on intersectoral cooperation in the field of drug policies, harm reduction services, social reintegration and continuity of care for people who use drugs.

Visits to the National Institute for Health Development (NIHD), community organizations and outreach services, as well as discussions with representatives of the penitentiary system, probation, police and the associative sector, highlighted the importance of cooperation between institutions and civil society.

The knowledge and good practices gained during this study visit, together with colleagues from the Union for Equity and Health, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Moldova, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Republic of Moldova, the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Moldova, Cahul Police Inspectorate, Bălți Police Inspectorate and the National Probation Inspectorate – Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Moldova, will contribute to strengthening interinstitutional cooperation and promoting more effective intervention and support mechanisms in the Republic of Moldova.
